These odd ways are not common as they may be funny and tricky; however, that is the reason they are called ‘Odd Ways.’

1. Use Your Left Hand More Often (Or Right Hand If You’re A Lefty)
It has been researched that handedness is connected to asymmetries in brain performance.
Which implies the right hemisphere of the brain coordinates the left side of the body and the left hemisphere coordinates the right side of the body.

3. Learn One New Thing (And Become Good At It)
Learning a new thing has been researched to be helpful in improving your brain power.
When you confront your medulla oblongata with something new it stimulates and charges your brain.
However, to achieve this aim, make sure it is only one new thing at a time.
It is not a situation where you begin to try different (new) things which will not make the brain to sense it wants to adapt to a new thing.
For example, at a time, you try to read a special section of the newspaper you usually skip, play a musical instrument, learn a new language, try an unfamiliar recipe for your dinner and much more with a view to trying to go out of your ordinary.
The key word here is to ensure it is ONLY one new thing. Why only one? You will be more focused.

It may seem to take much time in enrolling for a program or class, however, its benefits worth it.

- Possess mental flexibility
- Have better memorization skills
- Have a better listening skill
- Be creative and prolific
- Can adapt to a new task quickly
- Score higher on reading and vocabulary tests
4. Quit Multitasking (Unless You’re A Computer)
According to research, multitasking is not good for our brain. It causes more damage to the brain.
If you want to improve your brain power, you need to quit multitasking as a matter of urgency.
Concentrate and focus on a particular task at a time is the best way to improve your speed and accuracy.
Researchers have confirmed that the brain requires about 8 seconds to processing a given piece of information to the brain.
Now, consider this. Assuming you are receiving a call on the phone, and at the same time, you are trying to add a recipe to your cooking while washing plates, there is chances that you may forget to finish one or more of these tasks as one task may take more of your attention than the other.
The brain tends to switch from one task to another.
In your attempt to carry out your works very quickly, multitasking may effectually slow you down behind schedule, make you forgetful and as well subject you to errors.
What happens when you can’t find your car key when you are already late for work?
When you come back from work, in an attempt to drop your car key on the TV, while you are still on phone call and you are as well signaling to your wife to pass a piece of information, you are likely to forget where you drop the drop.

It will be discovered that the brilliant students always asked most of the questions asked in class after lectures during our study days in schools.

However, this thereby improves their brains as evidenced by their performances.
Adopt the habit of interrogating others and their thoughts.
Questions are designed to aggravate new ideas and thoughts and the only way to improve your brain power is to ask those intelligence questions.

Start by asking questions among your group of friends is a good idea.
Stand right in front of them and ask the questions. Another way to achieve this is by questioning yourself.

6. Stop Watching TV (If Possible)
The disadvantage of watching television cannot be over-emphasized in brain power improvement.
TV has been said to make our brain passive and dormant.
Many of us cannot do without watching before going to bed.

A reasonable control level of watching television may not hurt, but it does have effects on your brain functioning.
It is an undisputable fact that the habit of watching television slows down brainwaves and causes brain deterioration that affects brain power.
7. Play N-Back And Dual N-Back In The Morning
This game is one of the most effective brain training methods that put the brain into a test.
The two games have proved to be effective tools for enhancing short-term memory.
It achieves this by increasing the number of items that can be retained in the working memory which is the bottleneck of knowledge.

Physical activities like weight lifting, yoga, jogging and much more help your brain power by increasing oxygen supply to your brain and as well minimize the risk of mental confusion that results to memory loss and some other diseases like cardiovascular and diabetes.
Weight lifting helps you to improve your brain power by creating new brain cells for optimal mental health.
Weight lifting and other physical exercises boost your heart rate and will enhances blood flow to your brain, as a result of this; it makes your memory to be at alert to perform its function optimally.

9. Sleep Well Or Take A Short Nap
The research has shown that your body can stay without food and water for a reasonable period of time, but your body without sleep is at the risk of collapse.
The reasonable time a body can stay without sleep has been put at 48 hours.
Anything higher than this is not advisable.
Getting a regular seven to eight hours of rest each night will boost your memory.
Poor sleep affects many things in the body, especially your memory.
It has been observed that during sleep, the brain hold the recently acquired information together.
The longer the period of sleep the brain gets the better for the brain.
Taking a nap during the day especially after acquiring a new knowledge helps you in retaining the knowledge gained and as well as keep your brain sharp.
This is applicable to the students who have examinations.
Stay up in the night, reading and cramming without having some sleep before going to the hall does not help your brain.
This has been attributed to forgetfulness in the examination room.
Sleep is the brain reliable tool to strengthen the connection between neurons, thereby aiding quick memory and better learning.

10. Eat Wild Salmon At Least Once A Week
Have you asked yourself why is salmon referred to as ‘brain food’?
If I may ask, when was the last time you eat wild salmon?
Wild salmon is researched to contain many efficiency-boosting nutrients to help your body and brain functions well.
There are more to offer to your mental health from wild salmon.
The brain needs about 60% fat.
However, most of this 60% required cannot be produced by the body; hence, they are supplied by the diet or supplement we take.

Unfortunately, many people ignore the importance of these omega-3 acids, and therefore they don’t consume it sufficiently.

It has been demonstrated that the brain needs more of omega-3 acids than any other systems of the body.
Your brain membranes optimally perform with adequate consumption of DHA and EPA in your diet.
